Mission
The IEC-LARC is the focal point and resource for the IEC in the Latin American region, helping to:

  • Promote awareness of the IEC in the region;
  • Increase the use of IEC International Standards and IEC Conformity Assessment Schemes;
  • Enhance participation and membership of countries in the region.

All of the above will be achieved by improved communication with businesses, industries and governments in the region.  Located in central São Paulo, Brazil, the IEC-LARC offers meeting facilities for IEC activities. The centre also has comprehensive office facilities, including internet access

Training, Seminars and Workshops
The IEC-LARC coordinates and organizes training events and seminars and workshops that match the needs of the region. Events range from seminars on the use of IT tools in the IEC to workshops on specific technical areas.

IEC-LARC Official Opening and Seminar – Latin America: Achieving its Potential in Electrical, Electronic and Multimedia Technologies
São Paulo, Brazil
2-3 May 2007

The official opening of the IEC Latin America Regional Centre was followed by a two-day seminar that gave participants a close look at the breadth of technologies handled by the IEC and at its conformity assessment work. The second day focused on particular aspects of technology, including information and communication technologies, multimedia, ultra-high voltage, e-cubed (electrical energy efficiency) and renewable energies.
