Much of the IEC’s effort over the past few years has been directed toward reducing average development time for standards, and the hard work is now paying off. Industry has been asking this of the IEC, and the Commission has responded accordingly by streamlining processes and focusing on efficiency. Further reduction in development time should be expected in the years ahead.

At the same time, the IEC remains committed to ensuring that the IEC community has the means to, and is encouraged to, participate fully in the work of developing International Standards and contributing to the decision-making process. Granting additional rights to Associate Members, seminars for Affiliate Country Programme participants, EMC workshops and other, similar initiatives are means to these ends. Some of these initiatives will continue while the IEC will also explore new ideas designed to achieve its goals.
