Former IEC President first to win top Japanese standardization award
Geneva, Switzerland, 2007-10-24 – IEC Past President Sei-ichi Takayanagi was the first and sole awardee of Japan’s newest prize, the Prime Minister’s Award for Industrial Standardization. It was created in 2007 as the highest award in Japan to honour people who have made significant contributions in the field of international standardization.
In a ceremony in Tokyo on 15 October 2007, Takayanagi, who worked throughout his career for Toshiba Corporation, was given the award for his contribution to IEC work, including his tenure as President from 2002-2004.
According to the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee, this award should help to raise awareness in Japan about the importance of the IEC and its work. Further, this award should encourage people who work in IEC-related activities in Japan. |
