New Secretary appointed for the IEC National Committee of Malaysia

Ridzwan Kasim, the new Secretary
of the IEC NC of Malaysia

Ridzwan Kasim, a chemist with a B.Sc. (Hons) (Bachelor of Science with Honours) degree from Britain’s UMIST (University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology), has been appointed as the new Secretary of the IEC NC (National Committee) of Malaysia.

In May 2002, Kasim joined the Department of Standards Malaysia, the organization that holds the Secretariat of the Malaysian NC of the IEC. Previously, he was a chemist with the Department of Chemistry Malaysia, where he was responsible for analytical work and maintenance of the quality system.

With the Department of Standards Malaysia, Kasim held the post of Director of Accreditation. As such he was responsible for the implementation and development of accreditation schemes for CA (Conformity Assessment) and for ensuring the compliance of the quality system with the requirements of international standards and guidelines.

Since 1 August 2009, he has been Director of Standards at the Department of Standards Malaysia where he is responsible for developing standards and ensuring compliance to international requirements and practices.

In his capacity as Secretary of the IEC NC of Malaysia, Kasim replaces Hussalmizzar Hussain.
